ODE TO 706 SOUTH MATHEWS

An Ode to the AOII House:

So I've lived in this house for 4 semesters now. As junior year comes to a close, I realize that next year will be very different, as I will not be living at 706 South Mathews. I love this house, I really do. So I thought I would espouse some of the reasons why, and maybe some things I will not miss next semester when I move into the BEST apt EVER!

Things I love:

Not having to make my food, CEREAL!, having access to everyone's I-tunes, 5 min MAX walk to class, being able to see the quad from the house, THE PORCH, having 60 closets to borrow from, being at the center of all the goings on, movie nights, the big bed, hour-long lunches, getting the booze news delivered on tues nights, always having someone to walk home with, the house is so beautiful, knowing all the ins and outs bc you're old balls and have been around for 3 years, the living room couches, the close proximity to work, always having a study buddy, "study" parties in the kitch/computer room, free laundry!, not having to worry when something breaks, watching tv in room 17/using their blowdryer, the chan-chan champagne night, the door code (no keys!), dinner announcements, random serenades from Xchords/Other Guys/etc, free goodies people leave out, checking out every mirror on the way out at night, all the windows, wood floors

Things I will not miss:

Communal bathrooms, sharing a room, not chosing what I eat, no AC, how fast gossip (and sickness) spreads, having to cross the quad to get home from the bars, fire drills, wake-up, not having a kitchen to bake things, drunks being loud, the chan-chan parking lot, not being able to drink in the house

Next year will be yet another adventure I'm sure. Living with Ms. Fruitcup, Ms. Powerade, and Ms. Gin & Tonic will be great. I know I will miss being able to be here next year during recruitment, but I will sneak over to see the renovations  I love all my housemates from the new wing to the SOUTHSIDE--you guys rock....mwah

This weekend included the Kams Happy Hour with Liz, running through the Homecoming Parade drunk (with Liz), Tri-21st Party at Clys, drinking from 5pm-2am, Football Block at Kams (for 6hours), spooning at AKL, and the Perfect 10

Alli's Visit
Alli's finally home from Australia and we celebrate with Mug Night. Reediculous. She later skips her cell like a fucking rock...

Halloween
Mug Night, costumes, and 80s music...does it get better than this?

Snowball fight at SigEps, including Poorman running around in a jockstrap...

Beer-Pong Tournament
My first (failed) attempt at playing beer pong. Out of control at the SigEp house once again...until i got violent...love you paulie

Beer Olympics
Actually post-semester (finals were DOOOONE!) but beer games with Em, Jane, and Alli: Fantastic. Tom Milford knows how to throw an event. Although I realized I am not a speed drinker, but an endurance...which is why we didn't win.

It's been a tough week.

Lots of ups and downs, threats of throwing one's self out the window or jumping on a midnight train going anywhere...

Lots of red cards. hard red. double reds.

but some greens too. if there is one thing that i have learned from the events of this week is that if we stick together, we'll be ok. late night runs to steak 'n shake are heavenly. sometimes we laugh bc if we didn't we'd start bawling.

i think i've also made some realizations about certain people. i'm sick of putting up with drama or being put in the middle where i don't belong. screw status. isn't it better to be happy?
